I’m back!

Well, sort of. However, there’s such a load of things I still wanted to write yet that by the time I’ll post things, they will be terribly outdated.  So instead of a quick review of some albums, or concerts, just file my rambles under “fond memories” — just as usual.

  1. Welcome back! Always a pleasure to hear from you.

My big adventure this year was singing in the tenor section for the High Holy Days. Singing alto was much too tiring. The fellows were very nice about it too. We actually have several women singing tenor, but they are really contraltos. I sound pretty much like a tenor.

    • Let me return the nice words – It’s always a pleasure to hear from you! When I was in school still, we performed the Messiah amongst other things, and I remember singing the tenor on-sets there in the Hallelujah. “And he shall reign …” Oh, and “Lässest du diesen los …” in St. John’s passion. Later, in university, I sang in the choir of the Catholic church musicians too, for fun, and I sang alto frequently, and sometimes tenor. (There’s an awful lack of tenors, always, isn’t there?) I found it tasking to sing tenor, especially, as the way the voice is led can be strange. In general, middle voice are much harder to sing than soprano or the bass, I find. I like my tenor voice too … *belting through Händel* heh.
